Class 25 Action

Barmouth/Fairbourne Thursday 2nd September 1976

8J23 04.30 Shrewsbury Cotton Hill - Pwllheli

7J16 13.38 Pwllheli - Shrewsbury Cotton Hill

The only freight train to run on the Cambrian in 1976 was the Shrewsbury Cotton Hill - Pwllheli (or Pothmadog on Monday and Wednesday). Here 25262 stands outside Barmouth station with the van train.

If this train was running to time then it was due to wait 20 minutes at Barmouth and move off at 10.43. With the road ahead now clear 25262 accelerates away from Barmouth station and off towards Pwllheli.

Later that afternoon, having left a few of the vans behind, 25262 heads back up the line towards Shrewsbury and is seen here passing through Fairbourne station (booked passing time here was 15.28).
